Last Sunday 16 athletes from our club traveled to Dungarvan for the annual John Treacy Dungarvan 10 mile road race. After a hard winters training it was the first big outing in 2017 and everyone looked well in the new club kit.
Some fantastic times were ran with near perfect conditions on the day. Well done to everyone who took part.

Juvenile training is cancelled this evening 6th February in Conna pitch due to adverse weather conditions.
St Catherine’s AC held its inaugural awards night in Conna Hall last Saturday 21st January. Events got underway just after 7pm with club chairman Mike Byrne taking to the floor.The first award on the night was for the most improved juvenile athlete both boy and girl. This award is in honour of the late Catherine Leahy Dingivan, a wonderful person and a valued member of our athletic club since its infancy. Stepping up to explain the significance of this award and announce the winners was club coach Steve Dunning. The club was delighted to welcome Catherine’s husband Denis to present these awards to two worthy winners , Natalie Nicholson and Kian O’Donoghue. The club was delighted to have Catherine’s daughter Hope, mum Josephine, brother Batt, sister in law Helen and niece Jennifer present to over see events on the night.
Recognising her achievements in both Track and Field and Cross Country, it was no surprise that Juvenile Athlete of the year for 2016 went to Meghan Carr. Filling in for club present Dan McCarthy to present Senior Male and Senior Female athlete of the year was club coach Frank Hayes.These awards went to John Beecher and Catherine Clancy for their personal achievements in 2016 and their ongoing support and encouragement for fellow members of the club.
A presentation was made to our girls u17 team ( Laura Hayes, Caoimhe Hayes , Sara Barry, Sarah Mulcahy and Natalie Nicholson) County A Champions and Munster Silver Medalists, this enthusiastic team continue to train in preparation for the upcoming schools cross country.
The final award of the night went to Frank Hayes in recognition of his contribution to athletics both at a club level and at a community level. Once the formalities were over everyone relaxed, chatted and tucked into some tasty refreshments. Thanks to everyone that helped to organise this event especially the Leahy and Dingivan family.

St Catherine’s AC Athletics Awards Night will take place next Saturday 21st January at 7pm in Conna Hall. All athletes both adult and juvenile are asked to attend if possible. Also, club members are asked to bring a small amount of food to cater for attendees. Looking forward to seeing you all for a great evening!
Our couch to 5k program got underway on Wednesday. It got off to a great start with everyone completing their first workout. You can find the 9 week program here. Remember everyone is welcome so you if you’ve missed the first week its never too late to start. Hope to see you all again (any maybe a few more new faces) next Wednesday. All Welcome.
Adult training returns tomorrow 3rd Jan with a 3k. Looking forward to seeing everyone for the first session of 2017!
The next couch to 5km programme starts next Wednesday 4th January at 7pm in Conna field. Spread the word and come along to help kick start those New Years resolutions!
The annual Goal Mile will take place on Christmas Day in Ballynoe GAA pitch from 10:30am-12:00pm. Come along and support a great cause!
