A yellow weather warning was issued for Munster on the bank holiday Monday but that did not dampen spirits of all those taking part. St. Catherine’s were represented in all 3 races, the marathon, the half marathon and the relay. The highlight on the day is without doubt John Beechers time of 2:48, a well deserved personal best which earned him a fantastic 21st place in the marathon. Well done John & to all who represented the club on the day.
Tallow 5K
The club supported the tallow community council 5K fun run/ walk which took place on 30th May. First man home was our own Frank Hayes; first lady home was Caoimhe Hayes in a time of 22:23 mins. The first junior athlete home was also from St. Catherine’s, Neasha Whelan. Well done to all our athletes.
Emer Casey 10k
Emer Casey 10k was held in glorious summer sunshine in Youghal on Sunday 24th May. A total of 411 runners took part in this event which again this year was extremely well run and all money raised went to the very worthy Emer Casey Foundation. Kevin Hayes was the 1st athlete home in an impressive 14th position. Our other athletes that took part were Alan Carr, Aidan Barry, Patricia Barry, Catherine Clancy Mike Walsh, Georgina Cunningham, Fiona Fitzgerald and Lisa Jones
Track & Field (County B’s & Masters)
Numbers were sparse last Sunday for both events which were held in the CIT, our juvenile athletes that took part were Lucy Barry, Neasha Whelan, Leila O’Reilly, Jack Kiely and Conor Hayes. Good luck to all our athletes that will take part in the Munster Track & Field this coming Sunday.
Monday mile continues following Juvenile training at 8.15pm
