Cork Masters Cross Country
Cross country is coming to a close for the year now but not without one last outing which was hosted just outside Glanmire by Carraig na bhFear AC. A tough course in some windy conditions meant it was a challenging day for all runners. We had 3 runners taking part in this 7km distance race with Dave O’Connor finishing a superb 13th overall and 2nd M35, great to see Dave battling for top positions again. Next up was Mike Byrne who was not far behind in 20th place, Mike has transitioned well from marathon training to cross country and will be ready to represent Cork next year in the intermediate championships. We had a cross country debut for Liam Kearney as well putting in a solid performance and finishing 34th overall. In a competitive field the team did extremely well. Unfortunately you need 4 members to score points for a team result and we only had the 3. Hopefully next year we can build on some great cross country results and get more teams out there.

We had 2 members who headed to Waterford for this annual race. Ted O’Leary finishing in a time of 40:46 and John Morrisson in a time of 43:05. All proceeds from this race went to Waterford Hospice and with a large crowd in attendance it looked to be a huge success.
