2012 Cross Country Season Closes with National Success for St. Catherine’s A.C.

The 2012 Juvenile Cross Country Season came to a close on 9th December when the National Un-Even Age Juvenile Championships were held in Adamstown, Wexford. Two St. Catherine’s A.C. girls took part that day, both doing exceptionally well and contributing to the success of the Cork and Munster teams.  Meghan was a member of the U11 Gold winning Cork team, and Laura a member of both the Cork and Munster Bronze winning U13 teams.

It has been a very good cross country season for St. Catherine’s A.C. and especially for these two girls who were rewarded for their efforts in training. Well done to everyone who took part.

Laura wins Gold

On Sun 25th Nov, Laura took part in the AAI Juvenile Even Age Cross Country Championships in Rathoath, Co. Meath. Once again Laura ran exceptionally well and in doing so won a gold medal as a member of the Cork County team. The medals keep on coming!

International Medal

Congratulations to Frank, our chairman and coach, for recently winning his second international cross country medal.  For the second year in a row, Frank represented Ireland in the British and Irish Cross Country championships. This year the event was held in Stormont and Frank won a bronze medal in the team event.

East Cork Schools Cross Country

On Friday 28th Sept, St.Catherine’s once again hosted the East Cork Schools Cross Country at the Conna Community Pitch. This event has become increasingly popular over recent years, and this year was no exception. Over 1000 school children arrived and took part in the 16 races, the first 15 from each race winning a medal and all receiving a fruit drink courtesy of the sponsor Glanbia. Between the East Cork Athletic Board and all the volunteers from the club, the event ran very smoothly. Thanks to everyone who helped to make this possible. Below are a few pictures from the day.

County Even Age Cross Country

Sunday October 7th saw the first race in the County cross-country season. The event was hosted by Castlelyons who set up a wonderful course and looked after the many athletes and clubs who turned up from all over the County. Our St. Catherine’s Juvenile team put in some great performances which reflected the efforts they have made in training over the last several weeks. Please take a look at the Cross Country page of our website to see the results.
