Juvenile Training – last training session Thurs 24th November

This Thursday 24th November will be the last training session of the year for Juveniles training in Conna Community Field. We will take a break for the remainder of November and December.

Please check the club website and Facebook page for updates as to when we will resume training in the New Year for Juveniles.

Little Athletics will continue in Conna Hall for the time being on Monday nights at 7pm.

Compete Home and Away

Our couch to 5k runners had an early start last Saturday as 14 of our members ran in the Ballincollig Park 5k run with a 9:30 start. Running conditions were ideal for this event on a relatively flat course. Here’s to the first of many for these runners.

Across the pond in Scotland on the same day was Kathleen O’Brien representing both Cork and Ireland in the British and Ireland Masters. Kathleen won an individual Bronze and a team Bronze, super performance.

Sunday was far from a day of rest for our Juvenile athletes as they travelled to Limerick Racecourse to compete in the Munster Uneven-age cross country (The going was soft to ‘muddy’). Large numbers from the province competed in all races, with spikes securely fastened. Charlie Nicholson and Conor Hayes were the first of our Juveniles to sample the course, followed by Naoise Whelan in the girls U-13. Meghan Carr was the first of the Club’s medal winners with a strong performance  in the Girls U-15, Meghan came home in 7th position overall winning an individual and county medal. Our U-17 Girls retained their team silver position with pints to spare due to all 5 of them training hard and putting in a great effort on the day. The Jet lag seemed to have a positive impact on Laura Hayes who won an individual silver. This U-17 team of Laura Hayes, Caoimhe Hayes, Natalie Nicholson, Sara Barry and Sarah Mulcahy will represent their club and county at the Nationals in Dundalk on the 11th December.

Good luck to members of our Adult Club that run next Sunday in the masters in Dungarvan.
