Cork Athletics County Road Championships – 17th March
A reminder that anyone who wants to enter the County Road Championships should text Frank Hayes (0876192070) before Monday 13th March. This race is pre-registration only. The race takes place in Castlelyons at 10am on Friday 17th March.
Munster Indoor Track and Field Championships in Nenagh
Congratulations to four of our athletes who recently took part in the Munster Indoor Track and Field Championships in Nenagh.
Ally, Cian, Aideen and Sam were part of a small group of athletes who continued to train through the winter months with these championships in mind. For three of them it was their first time at an indoor event, but they put aside any nerves and did a wonderful job of representing the club and themselves.
Ally gave us some excitement by winning her first heat in the 60m sprint and narrowly missing the cut for the final in her second heat.
Cian took part in the 60m sprint and the Long Jump. Here we see him measuring out his long jump steps.
Aideen also took part in the 60m sprint and the Long Jump. Below we see Aideen flying through the air on her 4.12m jump and a sixth place finish.
Sam took part in the 200m and the Long Jump, achieving a PB in the Long Jump. Here is Sam in full flight coming off the first bend of the track.
East Cork Achievement awards and Munster Indoor Championships
In recognition of their All Ireland Acheivements in 2016, the St Catherines AC athletes pictured below received awards from the East Cork Athletic Division at a cermony held in Youghal last Friday 24th February. Missing from Photo is Kathleen O Brien who also received an achievement award.
Also pictured is one of our athletes taking part in the Munster Indoor Championships in Nenagh.
