National Master Indoor T&F
We had two members who headed to the AIT International Arena, Athlone for the National Master Indoor T&F. Steve Dunning took home an amazing gold in the Long Jump with Donal Howard getting silver in WFD throwing. It is not all about running and there are opportunities to try different events. If you have interest please reach out and the club will support trying these out.
U20 National Indoor 800m
Senan O’Reilly represented the club at the National U20 & U23 Indoor Championships in Athlone. In an extremely competitive Senan continued his great form with a 2nd place finish in 1:55:20. A huge result for Senan in this National Championships.
Caherconlish 10km
We had four members who headed to Limerick recently to take on the Tom Walsh Memorial 10k . An impressive 400+ people turned up with Jim Harty first home in 31st position in a time of 37:07. Soon after Noel Early completed the 10km in 37:41 with Frances Barry next in 48:03 and John Morrisson in 52:30. Great running from all on a rolling course and great to see members travelling to the race.
IMRA Corrin
Close to home Bill O’ Keffee and Adam Blaiklock took on the IMRA Corrin race. This is over 9km and over 400 meters in elevation where you pass the cross at the top 3 times as you are guided around the paths and newly formed routes through the trees. A hugely challenging race and no doubt the legs were sore for a few days after.
IMRA Glengarra
Jonathan Kenneally and Catherine Clancy headed to Glengarra for this trail race which was just over 7km and just under 200 meters of elevation. Even though this was on Sunday it seemed to miss most of the bad weather and was perfect conditions for running.
BHAA 5km
Mike Byrne travelled to Little Island for this 5km and finished in 17:31. There was no hiding from the wind there as all runners were tested in the tough conditions.
